Support of the Smartex system continues

There are two ways to get data from TeamWork to K&A Smart . The easiest way is via the Smartex system. For a nominal monthly fee, Smartex will automatically send your data to K&A Smart via a secure system without you ever having to even think about it. However, if you prefer to do it all yourself, read further ...

In order to generate the data required by K&S Smart, please upgrade to TeamWork Version 6 and from the Main Menu, select Reports -> Management -> K&A Smart Report. Enter the date range and the relevant report will be printed.
Should you wish to email this to K&A Smart, please select the icon at the top of the report page and the "Save Report" box will appear. At the bottom of the box is an option "Save as type" - please select "Microsoft Excel Worksheet". Above this box, type a name to call the file and at the top of the box, select "Save in" Desktop.

Press the "Save" button and the Excel Export Setup box will appear. Press "OK" and the excel file will be saved on your desktop. Attach this file to an email and send it to the address supplied to you by K&A Smart. For assistance in attaching and sending the email PLEASE CONTACT K&A SMART - NOT TMS.

12 June : K&A Smart have reported that the chassis number field moves to the left after 25 entries on the XLS file. This has been fixed on TeamWork Ver 6.1d, but if you don't have this version, please click on the "Advanced" tab which appears on the "Excel Export Setup" screen and select "Continuous Mode"

22nd September 2009 :

VW(SA) has asked that repairers using K&A Smart include the cost and sale figures for each VW and Audi vehicle in the data file which gets sent. We feel that such information is extremely sensitive and should not be given out without much thought. To aid in this, we have allowed the Smartex users to stipulate that ONLY VW data (and other manufactures selected by the user) have this data attached. In this manner, we are able to protect your confidential information, while still providing the info required by VW(SA).

To set these options up, please follow these steps :-

1. Find the computer which is running Smartex (look for a White Envelope Icon on the system tray - bottom RHS of the Windows Screen).
2. Right Click on the White Envelope Icon and select "System Defaults".
3. Enter the password (default is "spiderman"; lowercase and without the "") and click the "OK".
4. The Defaults menu should appear - click the "Manage Sending Cost and Sale Amounts" button.
5. A warning message appears - READ IT and then click "OK".
6. A list of Manufacturers appears - select on "AUDI" and click the "Send Cost" AND "Send Sale" options; a tick will appear in each of the columns.
7. Repeat this for the "VW" option lower down the table.
8. Press "OK".
9. Press "Save" and you will be returned to the Desktop of Windows.

OK, you have now enabled Smartex to send the Sale and Cost figures ONLY for a VW or AUDI vehicle and no other. This will enable K&A Smart to comply with the requirements of VW(SA) without sending them the confidential data of any other vehicle in your workshop.
